Ian Kovalik is a founding partner and Executive Creative Director of Mekanism. Under his New York-based leadership, the agency has been recognized by every major award show internationally, and has been named one of Ad Age’s “Best Places to Work” two years in a row. Pioneering a unique approach to marketing called “The Soul and Science of Storytelling,” the agency has achieved wide recognition for work across global giants such as Unilever, Georgia-Pacific, MillerCoors, and is the AOR for Alaska Airlines. Most recently, Ian has led campaigns for Peloton, Talenti, CNN, and NASDAQ. His approach to brand-building has also been put to good use for, well, social good. Most notably, his creative leadership for The United Nations “One For All” campaign, the organization’s 15-year initiative to promote goals established by all 193 member nations. He coined the phrase “It’s On Us,” to promote the Obama/Biden initiative to combat sexual assault culture on college campuses. The “It’s On Us” campaign, in its fourth year, has become a national movement reaching thousands of colleges and universities and hitting over 7 billion impressions. Along with his partners, Ian’s been featured by Fast Company, The New York Times, Adweek, and Creativity Magazine. He lives in lower Manhattan with his wife, two boys, and two paddle boards.
